Sri Lanka Classical Package

Proposed Itinerary for 05 Nights / 06Days – Sri Lanka Classical Tour 1

DAY 01 : AIRPORT / NEGOMBO
Arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport met by Driver(English Chauffeur guide / Driver) Thereafter Leave to Negombo.

Negombo situated by the shores of a lagoon by the same name once has been a trading port for Portugese and Dutch and is a ideal place for those who want quick access to and from the airport. Attractions in the city are the old Dutch fort gate built in 1672 now a part of the prison, the Dutch Canal which was then a supply route to the Dutch administration, old churches and fishing villagers. The 100km long canal running through the town is still being used and is an attraction for those who want to see the country from a different perspective.

The stretch of road towards Kotchchikade comes to life at dusk (most shops are open at daytime too) with many handicrafts and curio shops, gem shops, restaurants and internet cafes catering for tourists.

BEACH

Fine sandy beaches of Negombo has been mostly unexplored but less crowded as most tourists use the town for their stay in Sri Lanka. That is where the advantage where you have the beach mostly to your self. Nevertheless those who have identified it's secrets have been visiting the town year after year. Fine beach stretches are superbly maintained by the hotels while some are always busy with fisherman and their equipment. Equipment for water sports such as diving, wind surfing are available at most hotels and private vendors. There are few schools offering reasonable diving courses

DAY 02 : NEGOMBO TO DAMBULLA

Breakfast at Hotel

Proceed to Dambulla. Enroute visit the Elephant Orphanage in Pinnawela.

In the Evening visit the Cave temple in Dambulla which contains more than 150 Statues of the Buddha. This was where a king in the 1st Century B.C. took refuge and latter converted them into a monastery.

DAY 03 : DAMBULLA TO KANDY

After Breakfast visit SIGIRIYA ROCK FORTRESS
Sigiriya the rock fortress of an v centaury A.D. is fortress pronounced the Eight wonder of the world. This citadel in the sky is a world heritage site, a great attraction. It’s gardens and terraces laid with water gardens fountains, Boulder Gardens cave Dwellings, Magnificent fresco paintings of the world famous Ladies of Sigiriya, The Mirror wall, The “Gigantic Lions” paws, The ruins of the palace and royal bath certainly tell us of the aesthetic sense of the king who exploited the skills of his peoples' and labour to achieve his Dream.

En route visits Spice Gardens(Spice shop).

SPICE GARDEN

Visit a spice garden which grows spices and herbs used for Sri Lankan cuisine and medication. Spices of Sri Lanka attracted the early sea faring merchants who made the long voyages to purchase these precious merchandise.

DAY 04 : Kandy TO NUWARA ELIYA

Breakfast at Hotel – Continental Buffet

After Breakfast leave to Nuwera Eliya.

Enroute visit BOTANICAL GARDEN
visit the Botanical Garden Peradeniya. Which was a pleasure garden of a Kandyan King of the 16th Century and later made in to a Botanical Garden during the British regime. This gardens, one of the best in Asia is a place of beauty and site for bird watchers.

Sight seeing of kandy including Upper Lake Drive and visit to Art and Craft Centres, Gems shops.

NUWERA ELIYA

Situated at around 2000m above sea level and surrounded by lush tea plantations Nuwara Eliya is the main hill resort of Sri Lanka and the heart of the tea industry. Once a pleasure retreat of the European planters the town is still very much an English town with many English style bungalows and buildings. Nuwara Eliya is a good escape for those who miss cool breeze in tropical Sri Lanka at any time of the year. Local tourists flock to this town in their 'season' from March to May when it is the hottest duration for the town, April being the busiest.

Nuwara Eliya offers many activities for tourists including visits to tea plantations golfing, horse riding, boating, hiking and of course exploring the beauty of the landscaped gardens, waterfalls and plateaus.

DAY 05 : NUWARA ELIYA TO COLOMBO

Breakfast at Hotel – Continental Buffet

After Breakfast proceed to Colombo, Enroute visit a Tea Factory to learn the manufacture process of Tea. Here you can enjoy a cup of the world class Ceylon Tea.

Proceed to Colombo and check in at Mount Lavinia Hotel.

At Leisure – Enjoy the Sun, Sea, Sand.

Special Sea Food Dinner at the hotel.

Overnight at Mount Lavinia Hotel.

DAY 06 : DEPARTURE TO AIRPORT

After Breakfast Day is free until your departure time.
